QuickTime for Windows: Why You Should Uninstall It

Trend Micro broke the news last Thursday, April 14 that Windows users should immediately uninstall QuickTime due to its vulnerability of being hacked. Apple, developer of QuickTime, has stopped releasing security updates as QuickTime is being phased out by the company. Time.com reports that Apple last released a security update on January 7 of this year, which does not save Windows users from the latest vulnerabilities. Mac OS users are not affected by these vulnerabilities. So far, there have not been any reports of attacks utilizing these flaws in QuickTime.

    • Yes they do. If you want it uninstalled, just request it. IT knows about the situation but because we have instructors and students still using it, it will have to be addressed after the semester is over.
