For the past few months, I’ve had the pleasure of using a program called “Respondus 4.0.” Some of you may already be familiar with Respondus’ LockDown Browser, but Respondus 4.0 is nothing like the LockDown Browser.
In summary, Respondus 4.0 is an exam editor. A user can create an exam or modify an existing exam, as long as it has been imported into the program. The program also works with an institution’s LMS, allowing the user to easily upload an exam/pool or retrieve an exam/pool from a course.
The greatest advantage of this software is its ability to convert Word files into a format for Blackboard, Victoria College’s LMS. Prior to the use of this program, users would have to either type in or copy and paste their questions and answer choices. Either way, it was a time consuming process.
Respondus can also retrieve an exam from an LMS and convert it to a Word file for easier viewing. This is popular among the few faculty that know I have the program because printing from Blackboard is not very user-friendly.
So far, I’ve been very happy using Respondus to help our faculty. If you’re curious and want to know more, please feel free to contact me!
